Something about what he said caused Ankh to be upset. He's not sure what it was, but it sounded like... he'd been hurt before. Enough so that this brief conversation brought it up.
"What?" He gets his answer to what Ankh is wondering fairly quickly, though he's not quite sure what to make of it.
He sees Ankh reaching for his gun and draws his own, aiming at Ankh as best he can. He doesn't really want to do this. Don't make him do this. It doesn't matter if he dies. It matters even less than nothing, now that he knows he'll come back. But he doesn't want to experience that pain again. At that thought his breath catches and his fingers tighten on the gun, one finger curled around the trigger. He won't pull it just yet, though. He certainly looks conflicted
"Why?"
Why did Ankh take so long to draw his own gun, why doesn't he just shoot him, why is he being placed into this situation, why does it feel like a betrayal even though he knew they were in that sort of world... there are a lot of ways that could be read.
